Elizabeth McCormack is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, and acts as a fiduciary. Her goal when working with clients is to thoroughly cover all variables important to the clients' overall plan. For some, this means holistic financial planning for a family. For others, the focus is those areas of planning unique to business owners, and for many clients, the focus is on both family and business planning.
Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Augusta State University in 1997 and her Master of Science in Environmental Studies in 2001 from the Medical University of South Carolina and the College of Charleston jointly. Elizabeth maintained her affiliation with MUSC, where after finishing her graduate work, she was hired as a radiation physicist in an environmental risk management capacity. Shortly after, she transitioned to financial risk management as Manager of Insurance Programs within MUSC’s division of Finance and Administration. She oversaw the purchase of all building and property, general liability, and professional liability insurance contracts as well as insurance claims under these contracts.
Upon deciding to finally take the plunge and follow in her father’s footsteps in the financial planning world, Elizabeth, as a stay-at-home mother of a toddler, studied for and obtained the necessary securities and insurance licenses. She worked for a short time with her father’s firm, and then took a position as a broker with Morgan Stanley until February of 2013, at which time she returned to her father’s practice, where she thoroughly enjoys working alongside the best mentor she could ever have.
Elizabeth loves how dynamic financial planning work can be, and especially enjoys all the different types of people she gets to know and help. She considers it a pleasure and an honor to have the opportunity to hear people’s histories, get a sense of who they are and where they see their and their loved ones’ lives going, and to put together a plan to help them get there. She brings together the planning details, including investments, income sources such as employment, Social Security, and rental income, insurance contracts, estate planning and tax strategies, etc. and is able to show all manner of scenarios with varying market conditions, changes in spending levels, different Social Security levels, etc. using the MoneyGuide Elite financial planning program. It allows the client to test their plan whenever they wish, and to alter the variables in any way they choose to see the outcomes that are produced. She has found clients greatly appreciate this process, whether it verifies what they thought was the case, or reveals opportunities for improvement to their long-term strategy. This is Elizabeth's favorite part of her work, because she is providing an invaluable service from which any person, no matter their level of financial sophistication or where they are on their financial journey, can benefit.
Elizabeth attends Saint Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church with her husband Patrick and their children. When not working, she enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with her husband, children, and Australian Shepherd, and entertaining family and friends.
